All groups are strongly urged to have a copy of the Guide to Local Services (GLS) available at meetings. Part of a GSR's responsibilities is to be familiar with the GLS.
The Nar-Anon Family Groups Guide to World Services (GWS) provides information, explanation, and description of the Nar-Anon world services' structure and system. Members of Nar-Anon who volunteer, or who are interested in volunteering, to be trusted servants at the world service level will find this guide an invaluable tool in giving back to the program for the peace and serenity they have received. This document is linked from the World Service website.
How can we let families and friends of addicts know about Nar-Anon? By doing Outreach to spread awareness! The focus of outreach is to let families and friends of addicts know that help is available. Step Twelve invites us to carry Nar-Anon's message of hope to others. Outreach offers a way to carry the message by increasing awareness of Nar-Anon Family Groups. The focus of outreach is to let families and friends of addicts and professionals who may come in contact with them know that help is available. Recovery Literature Literature used in group meetings and for personal use is called recovery literature. This may include books, pamphlets, leaflets, any form of multimedia, cards, films, and posters. Nar-Anon and Narateen members are encouraged to write and submit recovery literature. A copyright release form, giving permission to NFGH, Inc. to edit and use these writings in any book or publication that may be produced, must accompany each submission. All material submitted with a signed release becomes the intellectual property of NFGH, Inc. Material submitted by the fellowship is reviewed and edited by the World Service Literature Committee to ensure it follows Nar-Anon’s traditions and principles. In keeping with the spirit of our program, the name of any individual member does not appear in the title of Nar-Anon or Narateen material, nor is authorship acknowledged. All published material is the sole property of NFGH, Inc.
You can find more information regarding the approval process for Nar-Anon literature in the Nar-Anon Recovery Literature and Service Materials section of The NFG Guide to World Services (GWS), pages 24-27. Currently the World Service Literature Committee is collecting writings on the Twelve Traditions and Twelve Concepts of Service for the Nar-Anon 36. We are asking members to write text or share personal real-life stories pertaining to the traditions and concepts. Ideas can be found in the Literature Writing Guidelines pamphlet. The fellowship benefits from writings by its members. If you are inspired and would like to share your experience, strength, and hope, we would love to hear from you.
Are you, your region, or service committee writing literature for submission? Did you know in order to use your writings, we must have a signed Copyright Release Form? There are no exceptions! If your region is submitting a document with multiple writers, each writer must submit a separate Copyright Release Form. We cannot accept one form for a submission written by multiple people. Remember, when your region or service body decides to compile materials, all writings must be original. No matter how much we like a writing from another fellowship or organization; we must apply our Seventh Tradition. Being fully self-supporting includes our literature. Changing words is not acceptable, is not carrying the Nar-Anon message, and will result in us being unable to use the writing. This can slow down the release of our literature and does not support the common welfare of the entire fellowship. We know that no one wants to intentionally bring Nar-Anon into public controversy. For more information, please refer to the Literature Writing Guidelines, which can be found on our website. Important reminders: · Only original writings · All submissions must have individual release forms for each writer
Submitting Your Writings Literature is welcome from all Nar-Anon and Narateen members. Follow these steps to submit writings to the Literature Committee.
